System Users
The System Users section is used to view and edit the user accounts that have access to the controller. These users are stored locally on the device and are used to configure the controller through its local web interface or via the secure remote management interface.
Overview
Local system users provide direct access to the edge controller's hardware settings. This ensures that the system can be maintained and configured even in environments with limited or no internet connectivity.
User Management
Management of user accounts is restricted to ensure system security:
- Management Role: Only users with the System Master role can add, edit, or delete user accounts.
- Security Constraint: System management functions and user modifications are only possible if the security system (if configured) is in a disarmed state. System configuration changes are only allowed for the Installer role.
User Roles and Permissions
Fentrica controllers utilize two primary roles to balance management capability with security:
System Master
The System Master is the primary administrator for the local device.
- Permissions: Full authority over user management.
- Purpose: Intended for the building owner or the primary administrator responsible for the site.
Installer
The Installer role is tailored for technical setup and maintenance.
- Permissions: Access to Bench flow management and security system configuration.
- Limitations: Installers cannot manage other user accounts.
Security Requirements
For security reasons, all default passwords must be changed during the initial setup of the device. Running a controller with default credentials poses a significant security risk to the building's infrastructure.
Important Notes
- Access Scope: These credentials provide powerful access to physical hardware. Never share "System Master" credentials with unauthorized personnel.
- Disarm Requirement: If you find user management options are disabled, verify that all security areas are disarmed.
- Remote Interface: These same local credentials are required when accessing the device through the Fentrica Remote Management tunnel.
- Recovery: Ensure that the "System Master" credentials are kept in a secure location (such as a password manager), as local password recovery may require physical access to the device.
