Technical Connections

Technical Connections represent local network links to building systems, managed through the Fentrica Platform.

Overview

In the local device interface, the Technical Connections view is primarily used for diagnostics and status monitoring. These connections are defined and managed centrally via the Fentrica Platform, allowing the edge device to act as a secure gateway.

Secure Remote Access

The Fentrica edge device creates a secure, encrypted tunnel to technical systems located behind the building's firewall. This enables remote management and data acquisition from critical infrastructure without exposing them directly to the public internet.

Commonly connected systems include:

  • HVAC: Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning controllers.
  • BMS: Building Management Systems.
  • Access Control: Security and entry management systems.
  • Energy Meters: Power and water consumption monitoring.

Diagnostic View

This local view allows on-site technicians to:

  • Verify the connectivity status of each technical system.
  • Troubleshoot network issues between the edge device and local hardware.
  • Ensure that the secure tunnel to the Fentrica Platform is active.

Further Documentation

Technical Connections, their configuration, and the variety of supported systems are managed through the cloud. For detailed information on setting up and managing these links, please refer to the Technical Connections and Systems sections in the Fentrica Platform documentation.
